An overview from the artist:
After two decades of public service life, photographer and nature lover Cristy Froehlich steps into a new chapter—one painted with emotion, wildness, and release.
Venue: The Link - Strathnairn
The Art of Letting Go is a deeply personal watercolour exhibition that traces Cristy’s emotional journey from boundaries to belonging. These works explore the tension between two distinct parts of oneself—one grounded in structure, comforted by rules, boundaries, and predictability: the other wild and uncontained, driven by a deep yearning for freedom, spontaneity, and creative release.
Through abstract forms and fluid landscapes, Cristy navigates the space between these two halves—where safety meets surrender, and where control begins to dissolve into possibility. These works are not just expressions, but conversations between the known and the unknown within all of us.
As you move through these abstract forms, you may recognise the quiet push and pull within—the tension between control and release, safety and surrender. This is a place where both sides of you can meet, speak, and maybe even find peace.
These works are not just depictions of place; they are emotional maps. Each brushstroke echoes the desire, the courage, and the eventual liberation that came from choosing a path led by curiosity and creativity.
This is not just an exhibition—The Art of Letting Go is a visual release, and an invitation to step outside the weight of should and guilt and into a space where you choose something just for yourself.
